Peace in the moment…

Peace in the moment…

Our lives can look crazy and chaotic and it’s so easy to get caught up in it. The natural tendency seems to be that it’s something outside of ourselves. What I am learning is that it’s always my view and my filter. No matter how crazy this world or that “someone else”, it’s always from within that frames it. Can you take a moment right now to have peace? Go ahead. Give it a shot! This moment is the best time to have it. Enjoy! …the win is...
Tunnel Vision

Tunnel Vision

Many times we hear tunnel vision almost as a negative, maybe not aware of perceptions that could provide a broader spectrum. When Googled, the definitions that came up are: defective sight in which objects cannot be properly seen if not close to the center of the field of view. Synonyms are: narrow focus, concentration, fixation, narrow-mindedness, close-mindedness. Informally: the tendency to focus exclusively on a single or limited goal or point of view. What’s your tunnel? Just as blinders on a horse keeps them focused on the win removing distractions, your chosen vision or tunnel can keep you from the numerous distractions that show up almost every moment. I encourage you to get into your tunnel. Get so engaged with your purpose that anything peripheral does not get you off path. Here’s how you can get tunnel vision. Take the time to see clearly what your ideal life is. What’s a win for you? Without this, it’s way too easy to get pulled into someone else’s vision and off track with yours. Write down what your ideal life or win is for you. This brings further clarity. Look at your written vision or tunnel in the morning to start your day and several times throughout the day. Finally, whenever you look at your tunnel, feel the feelings associated with winning, or accomplishing the life of your dreams. It only takes a moment to get off course. Develop clarity in your life to where your tunnel takes you right to your destination of choice, …every moment of every day! Thanks Harald Hohendorf for the great...

It’s Time

Are you working for your gold watch? Many years ago that was a pinnacle of someone’s career. In today’s day and age, there is no known security for your future or that of your company. What if you decided to do what Steve Jobs did with Apple? Create your own future. There has never been a better time in known history for creating your life by design. In a world that celebrates celebrities, the reality is that each one of us can be a celebrity in our own world by being our best. There’s no competition for being you, other than your own mindset. With our world so connected, your gifts and talents can be shared globally in an instant. With that being said, in this life we do have a limited amount of time. With your time, will you create someone else’s future or your own? Will you spend your life comparing yourself to others or work on you? I recently made the decision to get out of a job I was in that had many parts in line with my gifts and talents, and that was creating a future. What I realized was that most of the time I was spending on areas that were not in line with my expertise which I allowed to take away from me being my best me. That’s not to say I couldn’t have adjusted and stayed with the job. I’m not blaming the job for my choices. It was not an easy decision and I don’t recommend leaving your job to everyone. For me, since I’ve made that decision it has provided more...

Bring it!

Where is your energy focused? Wherever that is you’ll get more of it. Consider the thought that your energy is a vibration or frequency that picks up whatever you’re putting down …so to speak. Whatever thoughts and emotions you decide to focus or keep your mind on, you’re going to get more of. We may not choose the thoughts or feelings that come in, however we can decide what to do with them. I challenge you to develop your mindset of “Bring it”. Know that whatever you’re giving your attention to, you will get more of and as you create your life, decide what you are going to bring. It truly is a decision. You want summa this? Whatever your “this” is you intend to have …BRING IT! …photo found at triumph-fit.com ~ I think I’ll work out...

Life is Risky!

I recently made the decision to give up a great job that I’d allowed to drain me. I’m not going to blame the job. I take full responsibility. Now that I’ve been out for a week, I can look back and see many things I could have done that would have produced a different, possibly more positive outcome. During my time at this job, I could see those things and still was not able to pull it all together to create the outcome that I believe is needed for that role. I decided it wasn’t for me. When I made the decision to let go, it was a gut decision. Although I’d gone over how I could make it better and definitely made the effort, in my heart I knew I wasn’t the best for the job. As I’m looking ahead to possibility, I definitely have my moments of doubt. Thoughts that I should have just stuck it out until my daughter graduated from college, or until we were in a much better place financially, along with many other feelings or should haves. I choose not to let those thoughts linger. I took a risk, and now I’m living with the consequences. I’ve seen some of the safest people get knocked sideways from circumstances beyond their control and I’ve seen hair-brained decisions made that turned out for the best. So what’s the lesson here? I’ve made the decision, right or wrong, to venture out into an unknown. In my heart I knew it was right, which doesn’t necessarily mean it was the best or that it was right. Only time and...
What if…?

What if…?

What if you could direct every day and truly create your best life? Do you believe that’s possible? Do you know anyone that is currently doing that? Are you currently doing that? I believe you are, to the best of your ability. Do you know anyone that gets up every day and consciously decides not to have their best life? It may look like it. I believe they may just not be aware that it could be different or have given up on a greater purpose or have never decided to have one. With so many distractions pulling us all in a gazillion directions, one of the greatest challenges of our time, and also the greatest opportunity, may be to truly become our best selves. How can you best give of yourself to provide the most value to others and truly be fulfilled? In our age of the internet and instant access to almost everything, we get the opportunity to add value just by putting something out there for millions to see. We also can so easily be pulled into everyone else’s life while unconsciously ignoring our own. I want to challenge you to live out your best ‘what if…’ today. You do get to direct today, although you may not currently feel like you are in control of all of it. You can develop your ability to direct your mind and how you think about your day. This is a skill and a practice. How do you start your day? One of the best, if not the best books on the subject of starting your day is The...

What’s in #ThatCuriosityThing for Me? (meaning you)

The beauty of that question is that whatever it is you are seeking, you will get answers for. When you decide to show up, you’ll get what you intend to get. If the cause of the Youth Suicide Prevention Program is something that resonates with you, you’ll get value no matter what, because you are contributing. I love what Kyle Cease states so well, made popular in the movie Adaption, and lyrics in a Fall Out Boys tune with Elton John, “You Are What You Love, Not What Loves You.” I’m not really sure where it originated, but it speaks to me in a world looking for validation and the need to be right. You have all it takes to be in this moment what you were designed to be. When you focus on what you love, there’s no room for worrying about what loves you, or if you’re accepted, making the right decisions, failing, etc. Join thought leaders as they share what they love, their perspective on being successful in the moment and living on purpose. The theme for the day is from Danny Win’s Super Shooz series that includes a song for each step in between each speaker. You won’t leave the same. ONE thought can change the trajectory of your life. Making Bad

Making Bad

We live in a society that focuses on the winners and our human nature tends to make us want to avoid mistakes or looking bad. We’ve likely all heard the stories that now seem cliche of Michael Jordan, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison all failing their way to success, but what about us? What if you just accepted bad? I’m not talking about Breaking Bad, I’m talking about being okay with bad. How about for the next presentation, project or task that you’ve possibly been putting off until greatness you decided just to be bad …and okay with it? I’ve had many Toastmaster presentations that I’m sure kept the audience grimacing, …and I’ve heard a few. Then I see the progress! I challenge you to step into your badness today! Through this you’ll discover that you truly are a badass! Join some badass presenters who have embraced their badness at ThatCuriosityThing.com PS – If you were offended by the term badass, I did not direct the term to any particular breed of donkey or mule....
Are you dreaming?

Are you dreaming?

That question can be asked in several different tones. One from the perspective of “get real”, and the other asking in a way that is challenging you to really dream big. I’m in a position in my life where I’ve stepped out of a role that provided some comforts and am now stepping into the unknown. This is not something I’d recommend for everyone and my outcome will speak for itself. I’ll be sharing this journey with you with the intent of providing you hope, purpose, passion, and success now, from wherever you find yourself. I’m writing this from Huntington Beach, CA. The photo is from my balcony and it’s beautiful here. I’ll be attending a Luxury Homes Retreat with my company Keller Williams who I’d just given notice last week that I’m resigning my position as CEO of an office. One of my reasons for resigning, was that I felt I was not as effective as I needed to be for that role and I was not being fair to myself or the company to continue. Good enough was not enough, and I had to make the decision to either press through and make it work, or come from a different angle. I decided to follow my instinct and take the path that to many, may not make sense both financially and from the perspective of having my future planned out. I have written a musical, interactive program called Super Shooz, where you step into the Shooz of the Super Hero you’re designed to be. I felt like I was not authentically following my own program, living my purpose....

Overloaded?

We are bombarded with choices the moment we wake up. Are you consciously choosing and directing your energy to be your best every day? Here’s a quick tip. Take the time to decide what you’re creating. Most are driven by habits, urgency (mostly someone else’s) and fear. How about if you started from fully appreciating you and think about what life you want to create. What would that look and feel like. See how long you can be present with that. Is it just seconds? Can you develop the ability to see more of that? When you’re feeling overloaded, take the time to breathe, see and feel your life of choice. Take a day out of your everyone else’s overload and join some amazing thought leaders on May 7th, at #ThatCuriosityThing Also a recommended resource for unleashing your potential is Dr. Joe Dispenza’s book Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New...
